Yes. The PigOut Propane Roaster is widely used for lechon and whole-hog roasting.

Its rotating spit, consistent heat, and full skin exposure help produce evenly cooked meat and crispy skin while offering the reliability many restaurants and caterers need for regular service.

PigOut Roasters can reliably handle whole pigs up to 150 lbs, depending on setup and configuration.

The heavy-duty motor used in both the Propane Roaster & Ultimate Charcoal Rotisserie is designed to turn large loads smoothly and consistently, making it suitable for both commercial and high-volume cooking.

The general rule of thumb is about 1lb of pig per person.

A whole pig typically yields about 40–45% cooked meat from its live weight. As a general guide (depending on portion size and sides):

  • 80 lb pig: serves approximately 70–90 people
  • 100 lb pig: serves approximately 100–120 people
  • 120 lb pig: serves approximately 120–150 people

You can learn more about choosing the right size pig in our blog post titled How to Roast a Pig - Choosing The Right Size.

Cooking times for the Propane Roaster are based on approx 20lb per hour but may vary with outside temperature:

  • 40 - 60 lb approx 3 hours
  • 60 - 70lb approx 4 hours
  • 80 - 90lb approx 5 hours
  • 100 - 150lb approx 6 to 8 hours

Cooking times for the Ultimate Charcoal Rotisserie are based on approx 10lb per hour but may vary with outside temperature and fuel type. For more information on cooking times, read our blog post titled Operating Instructions for Roasting a Pig.

PigOut Roasters are designed for whole animals and large cuts of meat, but they’re also highly versatile.

Commonly cooked items include:

  • Whole pigs, goats, lambs
  • Turkeys and chickens
  • Ribs and large beef cuts

Items with high sugar content (such as glazed or sweet sauces) are not recommended directly in the roaster, as sugars can burn and make cleanup difficult.

PigOut Roasters are available in propane, natural gas, charcoal and wood fire configurations.

Yes. The Propane Roaster is designed to perform reliably in a wide range of weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures and light wind. The stainless steel exterior resists rusting.

For more extreme conditions, the ends of a Propane Roaster can be temporarily shielded with aluminum foil.

Most orders ship within 1–4 weeks, depending on configuration and destination. Tracking information is provided once your roaster ships.
